SCORM ExportIt is possible to export lessons and tests as Sharable Content Objects (SCOs). These can then be delivered from any learning management system (LMS) that is AICC Scorm-compliant. The advantage of this approach is portability. There are two disadvantages to this approach:
You can try out the Scorm export feature free. If you have not got a Developer Edition licence then your package will be restricted to just 5 screens.
When you select Scorm Export as the output option you will also be shown the screen here. It allows you to fill in the details (the metadata) that go into the Scorm/IMS package. Title. The title of your package will often be shown to users of the learning management system, and so a meaningful title is important. Catalogue. This is the name of a known cataloging system (i.e. an agreed classification of subjects as chemistry, electronics, etc.) If you do not know what to enter here then it is best to enter 'none'. Catalogue Entry. Here you should enter the category into which your test or lesson fits, according to the catalogue you are applying. Version. You can enter any text here, but using numbers, such as 1.1 is a recognized approach, and allows you to distinguish between different releases of your content. Language. The language in a Scorm package is indicated by two letters, but for convenience you just have to select the name of the language and Editor will insert the two letters needed in the Scorm package. Status. The four options you can select from here are fixed by the Scorm specification. Copyright. This determines whether the note in the Scorm package for copyright restrictions is set to 'yes' or 'no'. Cost. There has to be a note in the Scorm package about any a cost associated with your lesson or test. This sets the note to 'yes' or 'no'. Description. The description you enter here will often be shown by a learning management systems to users, and so it is important to enter something that meaningfully describes your lesson or test. Keywords. The keywords you enter will often be used by the learning management system for user searches, and so meaningful keywords will have an effect on the ease with which your users can locate your test or lesson. Zip Package. Do you want your package to be compressed into a single zip file? Once you export your lesson or test as a Scorm package you will be asked if you want to test it. If you select 'Yes' then Editor will use some web pages it has to simulate a Scorm-compliant LMS, so you can see the information and calls made to the learning management system.
